Kevin Shenk
Founder & Lead Architect
Kevin founded Avunu to help growing businesses spend less time fighting their tools and more time doing work they enjoy. As lead architect, he designs the systems behind Avunu's client work, and he still writes production code on most of them.
His focus is open-source ERP. Kevin architects ERPNext and Odoo implementations for manufacturers, print and production shops, repair shops, and distributors, and he builds the integrations that connect them to the rest of the business: CAD drawings that become bills of materials, orders that flow to shipping, print jobs that flow to the production floor, and CRM pipelines that stay in sync with pricing.
Kevin also runs the infrastructure those systems live on. He built Avunu's self-hosting platform on NixOS, and he maintains the open-source NixOS packaging Avunu uses to run Frappe, Odoo, and WordPress in production. He is the author of Jx, an open-source web framework built on plain JSON and Markdown, which powers this website.
Before Avunu, Kevin spent years in IT and web work for small businesses, including under an earlier brand, Nexdis. TODO: verify dates, background, and how much of the pre-Avunu story to tell. That background in keeping real businesses running still shapes how he works: practical, people first, and wary of technology for its own sake.
He believes AI-augmented development is changing what's possible for small businesses, making truly tailored systems affordable, as long as the work stays reviewed, tested, and documented.
TODO: Location, education or certifications (if any), and a line about life outside work.
