One system for the way your business actually works

Quotes, orders, inventory, production, shipping, invoices, and the books, all in one place and shaped around your team. Avunu implements two open-source ERP platforms, ERPNext and Odoo, and tailors them to how you work instead of asking you to work around the software.

Outgrown spreadsheets and a pile of apps?

Most growing businesses get here the same way. Each tool made sense when you picked it. Together, they mean typing the same order three times, chasing status updates, and wondering which number is right.

A pile of apps

QuickBooks for the books, a project board for jobs, a chat app for questions, a shipping tool, and a few spreadsheets that one person really understands.

A big proprietary ERP

Big proprietary ERPs like NetSuite, Dynamics, or SAP can do almost anything, but they come with per-seat licenses, long contracts, and customizations you rent rather than own.

The middle path: open-source ERP

There's a better middle path: an open-source ERP, configured for your business and extended where you're truly different.

Open source means it's yours

ERPNext and Odoo Community are built and maintained in the open by large communities of businesses and developers. We build on them because they put you in control.

No per-seat license fees

Add people as you grow without renegotiating a contract.

You own the work, code included

Everything we build for you transfers to you once it's paid for, code included.

You aren't tied to Avunu

Your system runs on widely used open-source platforms, so any qualified partner, or your own staff, can support it. We'd love to keep working with you, but because you want to, not because you have to.

Your data stays portable

It lives in standard databases you can access, back up, and move.

How we implement your ERP

Every implementation follows the same six phases. We keep each one focused on the people who'll use the system every day, and we deliver the essentials first.

Implementation plan · sample plan and numbers
Phase one · Orders to invoices
Hours against budget142.5 / 180

Discovery

We meet the people who do the work: the office, the shop floor, sales, and accounting. We map your current tools and workflows, document what each group needs, and rank priorities by urgency and importance.

Done

Design

We turn those priorities into a plan: which platform, which standard modules, where custom work is truly needed, and what phase one includes. You get best- and worst-case estimates before any build work begins.

Done

Build and configure

We configure the platform first and write custom code only where your workflow demands it. Custom code ships with automated tests, and you see progress in working software, not slide decks.

In progress

Data migration and cutover

We bring over customers, vendors, products, open balances, and history worth keeping, from QuickBooks, spreadsheets, or another system. We rehearse the migration on a test copy, then pick a cutover date that suits your calendar.

Scheduled

Training

We train each team on the workflows they'll actually use, with written guides they can come back to. The goal is confidence on day one, not a manual nobody reads.

Scheduled

Support

After go-live we stay close. We fix what comes up, then keep improving the system in order of what matters most to you. You can follow hours against budget at any time in our client project portal, and we'll warn you well before a budget runs out.

Choosing ERPNext vs Odoo

Both platforms are open, and either way the system is yours. The right choice depends on your industry, your workflows, and how much you expect to customize. Here's how we think about it.

Comparison of ERPNext (Frappe) and Odoo Community with OCA modules

How we think about it

ERPNext Frappe framework

Odoo Community + OCA modules

Licensing

Fully open source. There is no paid enterprise edition.

Community is open source. A paid Enterprise edition exists, but we build on Community plus OCA modules to avoid license lock-in.

Where it shines

Manufacturing, complex bills of materials, and businesses that need deeply custom workflows.

Service and repair shops, distribution, retail, and businesses that want broad coverage out of the box.

App breadth

A focused core: accounting, selling, buying, stock, manufacturing, projects, and HR.

A broad suite plus a large library of OCA modules: repairs, fleet, field service, shop floor, point of sale, and more.

Customization

The Frappe framework makes custom apps and low-code document types fast to build.

Custom Python modules on top of a large, mature module ecosystem.

User experience

Clean and functional, and simple to learn.

More polished out of the box, with many ready-made screens.

Accounting

Solid core accounting for US businesses.

A mature accounting and localization ecosystem through the OCA.

Ecosystem

An active open-source community and a smaller partner network.

A large global partner network and the Odoo Community Association.

Our tooling

frappe-nix and 10 published Frappe apps.

odoo-nix and our open Odoo modules.

Common questions about ERP

Something else on your mind? Call (717) 814-8540 or start a project and we'll talk it through.

How long does an ERP implementation take?

It depends on scope, the number of teams involved, and how much data needs to move. We define a focused phase one with a timeline and best- and worst-case estimates before build work starts.

Can we keep QuickBooks?

Sometimes that's the right first step, and we can connect the two. More often, moving accounting into the ERP is where the biggest time savings are, because it ends the double entry. We'll recommend what fits your situation.

Do you host the system?

We can. Our managed infrastructure runs ERPNext and Odoo with backups, monitoring, and security handled for you. We're equally happy to deploy on your own servers.

We already started an ERP project and it stalled. Can you help?

Yes. We regularly step into existing systems, review what's there, and get them moving again. Start with a consultation.

Do you work with Salesforce or other CRMs?

Yes. If your sales team runs on Salesforce, we can work there too, including migrations and integrations with your ERP. See custom software.
